What do you know about roulette history ? For many years, roulette was known as a glamour game of European aristocrats. In fact, it is still popular table game in European casinos.

Roulette is a French word meaning "small wheel", and the game evolved from a number of pocketed wheel games that originated in England and continental Europe in the 18th century. The first account of a spinning ball and rotating wheel being used as a gaming device was in a game called "roly-poly," in 1720. The Law of 1739 and 1740 banned roly-poly, as well as many other games of chance, in England.

Beau Nash, of England, evaded this law by introducing "EO." EO, or even-odd, was a simplified version of the game. But it also was outlawed in 1745. For the next fifty years, the game evolved into the one we would recognize presently.

The layout we see today was designed in the early 1800s by brothers Francois and Louis Blanc, early concessionaires of the world-renowned Monte Carlo Casino.

Today, almost every casino in the world has a roulette wheel and it is still played in what is essentially its original form. Roulette is simple, easy to play, and exciting, with a wide variety of possible bets on each and every spin of the wheel.
